UNIT OF COMPETENCY 1: GDP10102A CHAPTER 2 OF THE GDPR

UNIT DESCRIPTION: This unit of competency will summarise Chapter 2 of the GDPR. It will give a brief overview of each article in the chapter and provide suggestions for its implementation in real life. It includes a summary of each article found in Chapter 2 of the GDPR.

By the end of this unit you will be able to:

    1. List the Articles contained within Chapter 2
    2. Articulate the main idea of each article within Chapter 2
    3. Understand the responsibilities of the entity in implementing each article

UNIT OF COMPETENCY 2: GDP10102B THE 9 PRINCIPLES OF THE GDPR

UNIT DESCRIPTION: This unit of competency will give an overview of the 9 principles for data processing of the GDPR in simple language and summarise the key points.

By the end of this unit you will be able to:

    1. Understand the 9 principles of the GDPR
    2. Summarise the key points that underline each principle
    3. Determine how the principles relate to real-life situations

UNIT OF COMPETENCY 3: GDP10102C THE LANGUAGE OF THE GDPR

UNIT DESCRIPTION: This unit of competency will explain the abbreviations and acronyms referred to in the GDPR. It will also explain the key terminology used within the law.

By the end of this unit you will be able to:

    1. Recall the meaning of the abbreviations and acronyms applicable to the GDPR
    2. Understand and correctly apply the terminology of the GDPR

UNIT OF COMPETENCY 4: GDP10102D THE RULES OF DATA PROTECTION LAW

UNIT DESCRIPTION: This unit of competency will outline the rules of data protection laws. It will examine how these rules impact the way data is processed, what data may be processed and under what circumstances.

By the end of this unit you will be able to:

    1. Understand the rules for processing data
    2. Identify what data is considered “sensitive data”
    3. Outline exceptions that allow the processing of sensitive data
    4. Recognise the responsibilities of the applicable parties to ensure secure processing
    5. Explain the time frame for data breach notifications
    6. Understand the rules for accountability and compliance and how it can be achieved
    7. Articulate the difference between Data protection by design and default

UNIT OF COMPETENCY 5: GDP10102E EU REPRESENTATION

UNIT DESCRIPTION: This unit of competency will outline the requirements and conditions for appointing an EU based representative. It will also provide a summary of the responsibilitiesof the representative.

By the end of this unit you will be able to:

    1. Discuss the process for appointing a European Representative
    2. Identify exemptions to the need to appoint a European Representative
    3. Name where a European Representative should be located
    4. Outline the responsibilities and obligations of the EU Representative
